Last week, we began working with Boys To Men (the youth mentoring organization) to provide after school programs at Fairmont Elementary. This has been a great connecting point for us and we're thrilled with the work that they are doing with these kids. In addition, we are establishing a relationship with Children of Promise to offer arts education programs at the Arts Center.

These organizations do a great job facilitating personal connections with students and mentors who will invest the time to come along side them to build character and encourage spirtual and physical health.

We're still working out the details but we're really excited about the opportunity to help Boys to Men & Children of Promise change lives. If you'd like to become a part of their mentoring program, visit their web site. We also need financial support to purchase instruments, art supplies, and dance clothing for these students. If you'd like to help, please let us know.

Before we begin the process of unwrapping all of the new programs being offered this Fall, we would like to take a minute to introduce ourselves and communicate a little bit about our vision for Trinity Arts Center and the Christian arts community in Johnson City. First... The graphic at the top of the page (borrowed from our web site) says a lot about what we would like to do:

"We want to establish a community of Christian teachers and artists, working together to provide high quality arts education programs that support Christian families and Biblical principles. We are working to establish a community where Christian artists can connect with one another to encourage and support the continued use and maturation of their gifts. Finally, we are creating opportunities to collaborate professionally (as students and teachers) to teach, encourage, train, entertain, serve, evangelize, and love the people in our community."

As most of you know, the vision for Trinity Arts Center was born out of my wife's desire to serve the Johnson City home school community by providing ballet instruction during their weekly learning cooperative. Very quickly, her classes grew from a small group of 10 students in a gymnasium, to 25 in our home studio, then 50, and now nearly 100 students in our 7500 square foot facility on Buffalo Road.

All I have to say is that God is good! I can't express how exciting it has been for me to see my wife (and mother of five) share her grace and beauty with so many students and families. So much so... That we have been inspired to create a community where other parents, teachers, and Christian artists can dust off their long forgotten (or just left at home) gifts and begin to use them again for the encouragement of the Body and to God's glory.

With all of that said... There are several ways you can participate.
  1. You can enroll in one of our programs. Our current community consists of about 10 Christian artists and teachers offering classes in dance, music, art, theater, and literature. Review the included information for more details. You can also attend the Registration Open House event on Sunday, August 6th from 2:00-4:00 at the Arts Center.

  2. Join with us to teach a program of your own. We are constantly seeking instructors and artists that can help expand the range of classes that we offer, as well as, add to the resources available to the community we are trying to build.

  3. Finally... Take advantage of some of our free programs (like Worship Workshop) designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and resources between artists within the community.
Thanks, and let us know if there's anything else we can do.
