What is The Wemmicks?
For those unfamiliar with the story, The Wemmicks (pronounced wim-icks) are a society of small, wooden people who spend their time affixing dots or stars to the bodies of their fellow citizens -- dots for those who are dull, clumsy, or plain; and stars for those who are talented, athletic, or beautiful. Our story follows Punchinello, the lowest of the low in Wemmickville, as he deals with feelings of inadequecy, exclusion, and isolation as a result of the dotted judgement of his peers.
As the story unfolds, Punchinello becomes aware that there are some citizens to whom dots and stars don't stick -- Wemmicks who are immune to the judgement of their peers. One such Wemmick is a girl names Lucia, who begins to teach Punchinello how life was intended to be and where her true value comes -- from the value placed in her as a unique creation of their Maker, Eli.
As with all of our productions, this performance is appropriate for all ages and includes music, story telling, and contemporary dance that will engage, inspire, and touch the hearts of everyone in attendance.

The Wemmicks Cast List Is Online!
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 02/08/11.
Cast information about the June 4th & 5th production of The Wemmicks (pronounced wim-icks) is now available online, along with most of the info you'll need to plan schedules, purchase tickets, and choose where to volunteer.
This production is based on a book called "You Are Special" by Max Lucado, the story of a village of people called the Wemmicks, who "judge" one another with dots and/or stars, depending on how "good" or "bad" they are perceived to be by their peers.
In the end, the lead characters (Punchinello and Lucia) discover that the only real value comes from that placed in each Wemmick by their creator, Eli. This is a touching story, and we've put together a contemporary musical score (Owl City, Sigur Ros, United Pursuit Band, Falling Up, Switchfoot, Lincoln Brewster, Tenth Avenue North, Mandisa, Nichole Nordeman) and are working through some great choreography to help communicate this in a creative and inspiring way. Please mark your calendars and tell your friends. The Wemmicks, on June 4th and 5th!
Parents and Students: Visit the the production page for complete details. Patrons? Mark your calendar for June 4th and 5th. Online ticketing will be available soon!

One Last Chance To Pre-Register...
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 08/02/10.
With classes starting next week, we wanted to push out one last invitation to pre-register at Trinity Arts Center for the 2010-2011 school year.
If you haven't already done so, We STRONGLY suggest that you drop by Monday night between 5 and 7 for our last early registration night. Several of the classes are already full. Students who were enrolled last year are not automatically enrolled for this year. Students MUST register, and pay tuition, before taking class. If you have any questions about class availability, please shoot me an email.
Speaking of classes... All of the details about our classes and instructors are listed on our Registration Form OR on the Programs & Instructors page. If you have questions beyond the brief overview on those pages, please let me know.
For those who have already registered... Please plan for a few extra minutes on the first day, to check in, pay tuition, and confirm your registration at the front desk. The first week can be a little crazy. = ) Thanks!
The New Studio & Parking
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 08/01/10.
The new dance studio brings some changes at the Arts Center including -- two new pull-through lanes (for dropping off students safely) and an additional exit gate, for parents dropping off at the new studio.
Students in Ballet 2 and above, or Jazz 3 and above, will have classes in the new studio. To get there, you have two choices: 1.) Pull down the ramp, turn left, drop off, and pull on around the building to exit back onto Chase Drive or 2.) Drop off at the front of the building, and have your student walk through the lobby, out the back door, and to the new studio (about thirty feet).
Please take a peek at this handy-dandy parking map to see where you can park, and where the new pull-through lanes have been implemented.
Dance Clothing At DiscountDance.com
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 07/30/10.
Needing last-minute leotards, shoes, or tights?
The majority of our standard dance clothing, especially for younger students, can be purchased at Target, Wal-Mart, or K-Mart. For anything other than the basics, we always recommend that you purchase from DiscountDance.com, who has a broad range of sizes and styles and -- allows our students to use Tanya's Teacher ID (listed above) to save 10% on their order.
By the way... Our "standard" ballet uniform is pink tights with a black leotard and pink ballet slippers. Our "standard" jazz uniform is black jazz pants with a black leotard and black dance slippers (or jazz shoes). If you have any questions about dance clothing, check the Programs & Instructors page (class materials are listed below each class description) or shoot Tanya an email.
Classes Begin In Just Two Weeks!
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 07/26/10.
For those who missed last weeks open registration night, we'll be at the Arts Center again tonight (Monday) from 5:00-7:00. If you've had "registering at Trinity Arts Center" on your to-do list... Won't it feel good to check it off? = )
By the way... I'll have some art workshop dates announced very soon, including (tentatively) a couple pointillism workshops, more drawing workshops, watercolor, and more.
Also... We've added a Teen Choir on Tuesday nights, directed by in-house vocal powerhouse Rob Meier. I fully expect this to be a very cool little vocal ensemble, with a chance to do a wide variety of things (including some Glee-esque swing choir material)... Only $80 for the whole year.
Classes Begin In Just Three Weeks!
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 07/18/10.
Lesson times are filling up fast... Dance classes are nearing capacity... PLEASE stop by Monday night between 5:00 and 7:00 to make sure you get the class and lesson times you need. Classes begin in just three weeks!
By the way... We have two new instructors joining us this fall -- Kay Yang (an exciting dancer and choreographer from Taiwan) and John Suits (a talented player/instructor on guitar, mandolin, bass, banjo, and piano). I'll post full bios on the web site soon but -- I wanted to give you a heads up about them now. Also... Rob Meier and Kellie McClendon have expanded their schedules this fall, creating more spots for voice students of all ages. If you're looking for guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin, piano, voice, violin, clarinet, saxophone, or dance (that should cover about everybody right?) -- download a registration form and drop by Monday night.
Did I mention that we were in the process of prepping our new two-thousand square foot dance studio? Your early registration helps us make that happen so -- yet another reason to get your forms (and tuition) in early. = )
Art workshop dates, the ASL schedule, and a few other things will be posted over the next couple weeks. Shoot me an email if there's anything you need.

Register Now To Get The Best Lesson/Class Times.
Posted by Jamin Rathbun on 06/22/10.
This week marks the final week of classes and lessons for the 2009-2010 school year. There are two important notes for existing students (or new ones) looking to re-register for the fall...
1. Saturday, June 26th (this Saturday) is your last chance to reserve your current music lesson times, and carry them over into the next school year. If you like your current spot, please get a form in this week. If you're looking to make a move, this week is the best chance to grab the spot you are looking for.
2. As always... Our Ballet Basics and Pre Ballet classes will fill extremely quickly. If you have a 3-6 year old planning to dance in the fall, I suggest registering early.
In either case, shoot me an email if you have questions and download a registration form to see the schedule and tuition info.
